Danielle Popovits, LLMSW-Clinical

Founder & Clinical Therapist

Danielle created Heart of Magdalene Therapy PLLC to provide focused, evidence-based care through secure telehealth to clients throughout Michigan. Her work is grounded in the belief that effective therapy requires both clinical precision and an honest, human relationship—one in which clients can speak openly, feel understood, and remain actively engaged in the work of change.

Her primary clinical focus is obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), including intrusive thoughts and themes that may feel especially distressing, confusing, or difficult to disclose. She provides exposure and response prevention (ERP), a form of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), in conjunction with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients reduce compulsions, avoidance, reassurance seeking, and mental rituals while developing a more flexible relationship with uncertainty. Her practice also includes treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions, including work with survivors of sexual abuse.

Danielle’s approach is direct, compassionate, and collaborative. Difficult experiences are met with careful attention, genuine curiosity, and respect for the complexity of each client’s life. Rather than reducing clients to symptoms or diagnoses, she helps them recognize patterns, understand how those patterns have functioned, and develop more intentional ways of responding.

Danielle earned her Master of Social Work in Clinical Interpersonal Practice from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Hope College and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing–Nonfiction from Lindenwood University. With more than ten years of experience across mental health and clinical settings, her interdisciplinary background strengthens her ability to listen closely, recognize patterns, and help clients translate insight into meaningful, lasting change.
